Biodegradable dinnerware has become wildly popular over the years, thanks to the many benefits they promise. Much of the waste that ends up in oceans and landfills is made from plastic food packaging. Using biodegradable dinnerware could help reduce the amount of trash that ends up in landfills and the world's oceans.

Sheets made from biodegradable products are relatively environmentally friendly because they degrade over time, eventually releasing planet-friendly nutrients back into the soil. Since they are made of non-toxic materials, you don't have to worry about chemicals getting into your food.
Despite their huge potential benefits and popularity, most people don't know if compostable plates can be microwaved. As I mentioned earlier, compostable boards are made from organic materials that degrade quickly and are suitable for composting. They are ideal for those looking for a green alternative when hosting a party, picnic or barbecue.
In fact, not all compostable plates can be microwaved. This is simply because some of the plates are made of materials that cannot withstand large amounts of heat and are therefore incompatible with microwaves. Thankfully, biodegradable dinnerware that can be heated in the microwave is usually labeled.

What biodegradable dinnerware can be microwaved
Microwaves can heat food because the available water molecules in the food absorb microwave radiation to heat the whole food. Microwaves force water molecules in food to vibrate, which creates heat to cook the food. In other words, microwave ovens don't heat things up without water. That's why foods with high water content cook faster than other foods. Therefore, the reason why cutlery gets hot after being used in the microwave is because the heat is transferred from the food itself to the plate. Some compostable dishes contain ingredients that can't withstand high temperatures for food and may melt, burn or be deformed by heat. Another thing to consider is that some compostable containers may have chemical properties that you might not want to transfer to your food.
If you're looking at biodegradable dinnerware and aren't quite sure about their safety in the microwave, don't worry! Remember, as we said earlier, most biodegradable dinnerware is designed to be microwave-safe to use. There are a variety of biodegradable dinnerware on the market made from different organic materials such as corn, bagasse, bamboo, palm leaves, etc.

The biodegradable dinnerware offered by Hyde is not only microwave friendly, but also attractive due to its bold design. These earth-friendly sheets are made from sugarcane fibre called bagasse, which is sustainable and biodegradable. The sugarcane material not only makes the plates easy to compost, but also sturdier and stronger than other items. Our biodegradable tableware has no plastic or wax lining, so it can also be microwaved and frozen. Because of their resistance to oil and cutting, these biodegradable tableware provide reliable support and strength for most foods.

Biodegradable dinnerware offers an easy, straightforward and cost-effective way to protect your immediate environment. However, when it comes to microwave applications, it is important to note that not all biodegradable dinnerware can be heated in the microwave. Hyde has provided you with practical and effective tips on whether disposable biodegradable dinnerware is microwaveable, now it's up to you to decide.
